Students from Five Universities Gather at CUPL to Discuss International Perspective and Competence

From November 30 to December 1, 2023, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) hosted the third session of the International Organization Youth Talent Training Program at the Haidian campus. This initiative aimed to cultivate  students’ international perspectives and competencies to facilitate high-quality employment opportunities. Nearly 200 participants from five universities attended this training program, either online or offline.

On November, 30, Huang Ruiyu, Vice Chair of CUPL Council, and Zhang Shuanggu, Consulting Expert of the National Committee for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), attended the opening ceremony.

 

During the two-day training program, Zhang Shuanggu, drawing from his personal experience in international organizations, delivered a lecture on global governance reform and talent cultivation in international organizations. Zhu Ruizhi, a teacher at the School of International Organizations of Beijing Foreign Studies University and health education consultant for UNESCO, shared insights into internships and employment in international organizations. Zhu Lijiang, Vice Dean of the School of International Law, CUPL, discussed international organizations and international law. Zhang Nan, Associated Professor at the Academy for the Rule of Law, CUPL, provided an in-depth analysis of the World Intellectual Property Organization and internship positions. Gerard J. Sanders, Honorary Professor and Senior Adviser to the President and General Counsel Emeritus at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, delivered a speech on legal reform driven by international financial institutions. Song Ke, Advisor to the Fisheries Department of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, highlighted key considerations for applying to positions in international organizations. Ding Ru, Associate Professor at the School of International Law of CUPL, offered a detailed introduction to the World Trade Organization.

On December 1, the training program concluded with a closing ceremony, during which Xie Tingmin, Director of the Career and Entrepreneurship Center of CUPL, summarized the training program. Representatives from Beijing Normal University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, and CUPL shared their thoughts and experiences.

The CUPL Youth Talent Training Program for International Organizations has been held for three consecutive years, with approximately 600 students benefiting from experts exchange and sharing sessions on international organizations. CUPL is committed to further advancing this program, aiming to cultivate young talents with both international perspectives and a sense of responsibility for their home country. The goal is for these individuals to contribute to the international arena, amplify  China's voice, strengthen our country's international discourse power, and serve as guardians of international order and builders of global development. Yin Xiaohua, Vice Chair of the Council of China-EU School of Law, Wang Tong, Vice Chair of the Council of the School of Civil and Commercial Economic Law, Tang Yan, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Xiao Baoxing, Assistant to the Dean of the Graduate School and Director of the Training Office, and Du Meng, Deputy Director of the Career Guidance Service Department, Career and Entrepreneurship Center of CUPL, attended the event.
