Acting President of Golden Gate University (USA) and His Entourage Visit China University of Political Science and Law

On October 14th, CUPL Vice President Lu Chunlong welcomed Bruce Magid, Acting President, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Jay Gonzalez, Vice President for Global Affairs and Dean of the Global College of Golden Gate University at CUPL’s Haidian Campus in Beijing.

Lu Chunlong extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced CUPL’s history, reputation, and leading role in China’s legal education. He emphasized the university’s commitment to building a world-class law university with Chinese characteristics while enhancing its global engagement. He acknowledged Golden Gate University’s distinctive approach to talent development and strategic location, and expressed hope that this meeting would initiate practical collaboration in faculty sharing, joint programs, and research projects. He looked forward to opening a new chapter in high-level educational exchange between the two institutions.

Magid expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and spoke highly of CUPL’s achievements in legal education. He highlighted Golden Gate University’s distinctive strengths in in adult education and vocational education, particularly its unique model of integrating theoretical teaching with practical internships. Magid conveyed his hope for deepening collaboration in areas of shared interest—including faculty and student exchanges and joint research—to further strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the two institutions. The two sides then proceeded to discuss specific collaborative initiatives.

Luo Lijun, former Director of the China Program at the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) of the United States, visited alongside the delegation. Also present at the meeting were Lyu Yong, Director of CUPL’s Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; Tang Yan, Deputy Director of the office; Zhang Xian and Ye Ningyao, lecturers from the Law School; along with other relevant staff members.
