On November 20 (local time), the book debut for the Romanian version of The Woman with Flowers, a book written by Mo Yan, was held at the Romania National Exhibition. The Romanian version was translated by Prof. Luminita Balan, Romanian Co-Director of the CI at UB, and has been published in Romania. This event attracted the local media and a large number of Chinese literature lovers. Teachers and students of the CI at UB also participated in it.
As the translator of The Woman with Flowers, Prof. Luminita Balan shared her feelings and experiences about translation with the readers. Prof. Luminita Balan said that Mo Yan was one of her favorite Chinese writers because of his writing style and plots. She also pointed out that how to transform the implications behind the story to the target language readers was the key to translation. Through her talk, Prof. Luminita Balan displayed the charm of Chinese contemporary literature, from which the readers had a better understanding of Mo Yan and contemporary Chinese literature.
