In the morning of October 14, 2016, Vice President Prof. Ma Huaide met with Guy Lefebvre, Vice Chancellor of the University of Montreal, and his delegation at the Xueyuanlu campus. Prof. Ma Huaide said he was pleased to see his old friend Lefebvre again. He said that CUPL and the University of Montreal had carried out extensive, in-depth and frequent exchanges and had set a good example for foreign cooperation. He continued to express his views and suggestions on issues such as joint doctoral programs, on-job degree programs, collaborative research and publishing, and other topics previously discussed by the two sides in June of this year. He expressed the hope that the two sides could make breakthroughs in cooperation in the foreseeable future.
Lefebvre thanked CUPL for its strong support for bilateral cooperation. He also said that the Canadian side had actively contacted with universities in Belgium, France, Peru, Chile and Mexico and have received positive feedbacks on jointly carrying out doctoral training programs and on-job degree programs to promote communication and mutual-learning between different legal systems and cultures.
The two sides also exchanged views on the fourth China-Canada Seminar to be held in Montreal next year. They also discussed the visit of the President of the University of Montreal to China.
