On the afternoon of October 21, 2015, at Xueyuanlu Campus, CUPL Vice-President, Prof. Ma Huaide, met with the visiting delegation of the University of Canterbury (UC), New Zealand, which included Dr. Rod Carr, Vice-Chancellor of UC, Mr. Tony Mortensen, Director of UC International Relationships Office (International Growth Strategies), and Mr. Allen Huang, its Chinese Program Officer.
Prof. Ma said that UC is one of the more prestigous institutions of higher education in the world, and it would be a great boost for the internationalization of CUPL if the two sides could conclude cooperation agreements. He also expressed his hope that the memorandum of cooperation to be signed by the two sides not only symbolized a new chapter of their bilateral collaboration, but also upgraded the level and scale of teachers and students exchange between them.
Dr. Carr indicated that, UC attaches great importance to the strategy of internationalized school operations, especially with its cooperation and exchange with top universities of China, and he would actively support UC to carry out substantive cooperation with CUPL in various fields.
After the talk, the two sides signed their first interscholastic cooperation agreement: CUPL-UC Memorandum of Cooperation.
