On December 3, 2014,CUPL President Prof. Huang Jin met with Prof. Dr. C. J.J. M. (Carel) Stolker, Rector Magnificus and President of the Executive Board of Leiden University and his party.
President Huang extended a warm welcome to Prof. Stolker and his party for the visit and reviewed their experience working together in certain fields, such as student exchanges, cooperative research, translation and publication of legal literature of both sides, and others. He indicated that there was great cooperative potential in the area of humanities & social sciences between the two sides in addition to their close collaboration in legal studies. He also expressed the wish that, when trying to deepen their teamwork in the area of jurisprudence, they should also expand the cooperation to other areas like political science, sociology, philosophy, international relations, etc.
Mr. Stolker displayed his gratitude to the host for his hospitality, and expressed his excitement for his first visit to CUPL as Rector Magnificus of Leiden University. He mentioned that he had been the Dean of Leiden Law School for 6 years before being promoted to his current position. When he was the Dean of the Law School, the two sides already worked closely in the field of legal studies. He agreed with President Huang’s advice, hoping that this visit could further extend cooperation between the two universities.
In the end, the two parties inked their Memorandum of Interscholastic Cooperation Agreement.
