On the morning of January 14, 2015, CUPL President Prof. Huang Jin met with Prof. Dr. Emil P. Bolongaita, the Executive Director of Carnegie Mellon University Australia (CMUA) at Xueyuanlu (Graduate School) Campus.

President Huang extended a warm welcome to Prof. Bolongaita and briefed the guests on our situations like CUPL history, its curriculum setting and its international-oriented school-running strategy. He then made a suggestion that CUPL and CMUA initiate their teamwork in the field of political science and public administration, and further their collaboration in other areas, such as faculty and student exchanges, joint operation of a Scholarship Project for CUPL students to study for master degree in CMUA, and so on. All of those would be the solid base for the two sides to ink a formal cooperative agreement in the coming days.

Prof. Bolongaita positively responded to President Huang’s proposals and mentioned that he wasn’t new to the outstanding academic status our university enjoys in multiple fields like jurisprudence, political science and public administration, etc. When introducing CMU to his host, Prof. Bolongaita indicated that Carnegie Mellon was a top global university with international identity, with degree-granting locations in California’s Silicon Valley, Australia, Qatar and Rwanda. The academic degrees of CMUA were issued and awarded by Carnegie Mellon’s main campus in Pittsburgh, Pa., U.S..

After that, the two parties mapped out the plans for two Scholarship Projects: “Master of Public Policy Administration” and “Master of Information System’s Management”, which will be jointly launched soon.
