On the morning of January 27, 2015, Wu Tilian, a CUPL student from the School of International Law, was lying in bed at the Hematology Department of Navy General Hospital (Beijing) donating his hematopoietic stem cells through extracorporeal blood circulation. Those cells would be transplanted into a recipient immediately afterwards. It is worthwhile to note that Wu is the sixth donator in our university as well as the 205th stem cell donator volunteer in the Beijing area.
On the same morning, CUPL Vice President Prof. Feng Shiyong and his party visited Wu Tilian in the hospital and conveyed their sincere greetings to him on behalf of our university. Meanwhile, Liang Yongqing, Vice Director of the Beijing Branch Registry of Chinese Marrow Donor Program (CMDP, also known as the Data Bank of Chinese Hematopoietic Stem Cell Donors), and his colleagues also personally extended their regards to Wu, and presented him with a Certificate of Honor and a commemorative plaque.
From Zunyi, Guizhou Province, Wu was admitted to CUPL in September 2012. In November 2013, after having his blood sample taken, he applied to join CMDP. On October 24 of last year, Wu received a phone call from CMDP and was told that his blood sample completely matched a patient with leukemia. Wu did not hesitate in agreeing to donate his hematopoietic stem cells. Wu has always shown his willingness to participate in public service activities since his enrollment in CUPL, and he has voluntarily donated blood from 2012 to 2014, with a total of 84 hours for voluntary services.
