On October 28, 2013, Andrey Denisov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to China, and Alexander Fedorov, the Vice-Chairman of The Investigative Committee of Russian Federation and their party, visited CUPL.
President Hung Jin, on behalf of CUPL, warmly welcomed our distinguished guests from Russia, and briefed them on CUPL’s advantageous disciplines and the current status of foreign cooperation and exchange. He also introduced the teaching staff that serve at the Russian Legal Study Center and the Master Station of Russian Legal Translation and acknowledged the achievements of Professor Huang Daoxiu, Director of the Center, in Russian Law Studies and Transations.
Ambassador Andrey Denisov provided information concerning the recent meetings between Premier Medvedev and Premier Li Keqiang during the Former’s visit to China. Besides sharing a common legal educational background, the two premiers also attached great importance to legal exchanges between the two countries. Since CUPL had made great effort as well as great achievements in Russian legal studies and their translations, the Former President of Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev awarded CUPL Professor Huang Daoxiu the Friendship Medal; the Federation's highest honor.
President Huang Jin stated that with the support of the Chinese government and EU member states, CUPL established the China-EU School of Law (CESL), and accumulated experiences in operating Sino-foreign cooperative educational programs. In order to meet the demands for legal talents when two countries conduct exchanges and cooperation in various fields, CUPL not only set up a joint legal teaching institution with one or more top Russian universities, but was also willing to jointly train young talents studying to master both law and language. He hoped that the Ambassador would actively promote and nergetically support these operations.
Alexander Fedorov, the Vice-Chairman of The Investigative Committee of Russian Federation, conveyed Chairman Alexander Bastrykin’s greetings to President Huang Jin and invited President Huang and his fellow scholars to visit Russia for future academic exchanges.
Afterwards, Andrey Denisov delivered a speech titled “The Deepening and Development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Co-ordination between China and Russia”. Finally, in a lively atmosphere, the ambassador interacted with CUPL students.
