On the afternoon of June 15, 2013, at Xueyuan Lu Campus, CUPL Vice President Zhu Yong met with Leo Martinez, visiting Professor and President of the Executive Committee under The Association of American Law Schools (AALS). Formerly, Professor Martinez was Chancellor & Dean of University of California’s Hastings College of the Law (UC Hastings or Hastings).
Zhu Yong expressed the hope that CUPL and AALS could conduct active exchanges, try to build the platform for Legal Education between China and the U.S., or among China, the U.S., Japan and S. Korea. Zhu desired the two sides could jointly cultivate legal talents and probe into the difficulties and problems in the course of legal education. And CUPL also expected to carry out active exchange and cooperation with UC Hastings in the years ahead.
Professor Martinez indicated that AALS was planning to expand cooperation with certain regions such as Eurasia, Latin America, etc. AALS wants to conduct exchanges with top-ranked Law Schools including CUPL. He also looked forward to keeping in touch with our university in the future, and further exploring the cooperative channels and forms which could be used by the two sides.
