The Framework Agreement on DAAD’s Funding for CUPL’s School of Sino-German Law was jointly signed recently by President Huang Jin, Prof. Dr. Hans-Jochen Schiewer, Rector of University of Freiburg and representative of German universities consortium, and Dr. Dorothea Rüland, Secretary-General of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). According to the Agreement, DAAD will continue to offer second phase funding to CUPL’s School of Sino-German Law over the next five years. The grant-in-aid is expected to exceed one million Euros, which will be used in the field of teaching, scientific researching, publishing, advanced studies, training, counseling, etc.

In 2009, President Huang Jin signed the first phase Funding Framework Agreement. Under that Agreement, DAAD offered around two hundred thousand Euros annually to support the cooperation between CUPL and certain German Universities such as the University of Freiburg, University of Munich (LMU), University of Cologne, Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, and University of Hamburg.

The signing of the second phase Agreement marked the new stage of cooperation entered into among CUPL, its German University Partners, and DAAD. Both the German and Chinese sides will continue to conduct in-depth exchanges in each field; they intend to jointly cultivate increasing internationalized legal talents who are well-versed in Chinese, German as well as European laws.
