From April 23 to 26, 2013, CUPL President Huang Jin led a delegation to Belgium, visiting three Belgian universities: Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven), Universiteit Gent (UGent) and Université Libre De Bruxelles (ULB). During the visit, delegation members signed inter-school cooperation agreements with UG and ULB.
During the visit to KU Leuven, the delegation visited its Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies, and had long conversations with its Director Axel Marx and other research fellows. On behalf of KU Leuven, International Office Manager Ms. Martine Torfs expressed continued hope for ongoing cooperation with CUPL in areas such as the humanities and social science. After the talk, the delegation visited KU Leuven Library.
During the visit to UGent, the delegation visited its Faculty of Law, and held talks with UGent Deputy Vice-Chancellor Luc Moens, Dean of its Faculty of Law Piet Taelman and other staff members. After the meeting, the two universities signed an inter-school cooperation memorandum of understanding.
During the visit to ULB, the delegation met with ULB Vice-Recteur Serge Jaumain and other faculty members. Vice-Recteur Jaumain expressed his hope to cooperate with CUPL on certain matters, such as the exchange of graduate students, joint cultivation of doctoral candidates, summer school programs, exchange of scholars and joint academic research. President Huang expressed CUPL’s interest in conducting collaboration with ULB in those areas. He also voiced his confidence in the future establishment of a wide multi-faceted cooperation relationship between the two universities. After the meeting, the two universities signed an inter-school academic and research cooperation agreement.
