On the morning of November 19, 2012, Vice President Zhu Yong met with Prof. Rick Lawson, Dean of the Law School of Leiden University (the Netherlands), and his accompanying colleagues.
Vice President Zhu hoped that the two sides could establish a relationship of formal exchange and cooperation. The two universities could begin by collaborating in certain fields, such as international law, constitutional law and administrative law, and actively promote cooperation in certain areas such as the program for joint cultivation of doctoral candidates.
Prof. Rick Lawson thanked Vice President Zhu for the friendly reception, and declared his full agreement with Zhu’s opinions. He expressed his wish to implement comprehensive and multi-dimensional cooperation, which, in the short term, includes exchanging lecturers and academic data and the joint cultivation of students.
Shortly afterwards, Prof. Kong Qingjiang, Dean of the School of International Law, gave a brief introduction to the School’s situation, and put forward suggestions on cooperation between the two law schools. Prof. Xu Lan, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange at CUPL, and Anette van Sandwijk, Director of the International Department of Leiden University, also exchanged views on the signing of an interscholastic cooperation agreement as well as some agreements concerning concrete projects.
