On the morning of November 6, 2012, at the Xueyuan Lu Campus, Vice President Zhu Yong met with Loyola Marymount University (LMU) Vice President and Dean of its Law School, Victor Gold, as well as LMU law professor, Song Haiyan.

Zhu Yong, on behalf of President Huang Jin, extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegates, and gave a detailed introduction to CUPL’s history, faculty, leading disciplines and graduate employment status. Zhu Yong expressed the hope that, on the basis of this signed agreement, the two universities could cooperate in the realms of legal education and research. Gold also expressed the desire that, through this visit, LMU could be building long-term cooperation with CUPL and other prestigious universities in China.

Shortly afterward, the two sides signed the Inter-University Cooperative Agreement and the Cooperative Agreement on LL.M. Program, which marked the formal establishment of cooperative relations between the two universities. According to these agreements, five excellent CUPL undergraduates will take precedence over others for LMU’s annual LL.M. admission. For admitted CUPL candidates, 50% of the tuition fee will be waived. This provides a golden opportunity for CUPL students to further their studies in a renowned American university.

After the signing ceremony, both sides discussed launching a joint cultivation program for dual Master degrees in the fields of intellectual property law, entertainment law, tax law and procedural law, among others. At the end, they reached a consensus on these matters. Professor Li Yongjun, Vice Dean of Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School at CUPL, and Xu Lan, Director of CUPL Office of international Cooperation and Exchange also attended the meeting.
