On the evening of January the 14th 2011, CUPL held its 2011 ‘Chinese New Year Reception’. Beginning in 2008, this was the third year the Foreign Exchange Chinese New Year Reception was held and this is considered a very important Foreign Exchange Platform for our university with all the embassies, foreign counsellor offices, the offices of the foreign high education institutes and such-like government departments.
Among those invited to this reception were the New Zealand Ambassador in China, Carl Worker (Wu Kaiwen), the Consul of the Australian Embassy, Jennifer Tyrell (Tao Jiefei), the Consul of the Canadian Embassy David W H Wong (Huang Wei Tang), the Consul of the German Embassy, Mavgvel Uebber (Yu Manli), the Consul of the Embassy of Switzerland Markus Reubi (He Man Kun), the Consul of the Embassy of Ukraine, Velychko Valentyn (Wei Li Qike), the Legal Advisor of US Embassy, Kyle Latimer (Lei Xinyi), and another 30 diplomats from Italy, Norway, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom etc., representing more than ten countries and regions.
The Director of the DAAD Beijing Office, Han Beishan and the representatives of other organizations in Beijing such as the Ukraine Cultural Beijing Office, The University of Cologne (Universitaet zu Koeln) in Germany, Galway National University in Ireland and Exeter University in the UK etc., were also invited to attend the reception.
The Deputy Director of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Education, Zhao Lingshan, the Deputy Secretary of China Scholarship Council, Li Jianmin, the Deputy Director of State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, Lei Fengyun, the Deputy Director of the Division of Policies and Regulations Department, Gao Xiang, the General Manager of China Services International, Yi Fanping, the Deputy Director of China International Talent Exchange Foundation, Liu Sheng, the Deputy Director of the Beijing Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Chen Xuanyao and officials from the Ministry of Education China Scholarship Council, Taiwan Affairs Office State Council, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Affairs Office of Beijing Municipal Government, China International Education Association and other dignitaries attended the evening activities.
The reception was held by the Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, Xu Lan and Chancellor Huang Jin gave a speech and toasted the guests.
At the reception, all the guests exchanged extensive dialogue and cooperation; they were highly complimentary regarding the international education strategy of our university and the achievements in the area of international exchange. Chinese and foreign guests all expressed their wish to continue to strengthen the cooperation with our university and exchanged their views on how to deepen bilateral exchanges.
