In the morning of May 12, President Huang Jin met the Chancellor, Professor Steve Smith from the University of Exeter who is the chairman of the Universities UK at the College Road campus. The Vice-Chancellor of that university, Professor Neil Armstrong, Deputy Chancellor Professor David Allen, the Deputy Director of the International Department Mrs. Mary McCrindle, Director of Alumnus Association Mrs. Susie Hills, Director of the International Department Mr. Stuart Franklin and Director of Public Affairs Mrs. Erin Allgrove were also present. Dean of School of Commerce Sun Xuan Zhang, Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Zhang Qing, and the head of the International Cooperation and Exchange Xu Lan attended the meeting.
President Huang Jin firstly expressed his welcome to the delegation from the University of Exeter and briefly reviewed the good cooperation between the two universities and made the suggestion of having further cooperation in areas such as teacher exchange visits between the two schools, short term lectures, student exchange, summer projects etc. President Huang Jin also said, that based on the Memorandum of Understanding between two cooperating universities, the summer program in Beijing for the students of the University of Exeter, which started this summer, will be a good start to the long term cooperation between the two schools. During the meeting, Chancellor, Professor Steve Smith, highly praised the results CUPL has gained in the area of international exchange, he also expressed his confidence in the cooperation between the two universities.
