In the afternoon of June 16th, the Israeli ambassador to China Mr. Amos Nadai was invited by our university to come to the “Ambassador Forum”. Before the speech, Vice President Zhu Yong met Ambassador Mr. Amos Nadai at the VIP Room of the College Road Campus. The Vice President expressed his warm welcome to the Ambassador, and his response to our invitation to come and deliver a speech, and he gave a brief account to the visitors of the special character of our university and situation regarding international exchange. The two parties had reached the same view on the issue of video conferencing for cooperation with the Israeli Institute of Higher Education, as well as arranging for Israeli legal experts, professors and judges to visit our university etc. The Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Li Guoqiang attended the meeting, and then presided over the forum.
In his speech, entitled, “An Overview of Israel and the Middle East Current Affairs” Ambassador Amos Nadai spoke from personal experience. He delivered a wonderful speech in which he mentioned the similarities and differences between two countries, Israel’s developing history and characteristics, as well as the current affairs of the Middle East and other issues.
During the exchange and interactive sessions, the students enthusiastically asked questions about China’s role in Middle East issues, Israel’s higher education, and the current status of exchange and cooperation between the two countries etc. The students competed with one another to exchange conversation with the ambassador. The ambassador answered the questions one by one, and explained deeper issues in simple terms.
Finally, on behalf of the university President Huang Jin expressed his gratitude to the ambassador, and thanked him for visiting our university during his busy schedule, and for giving us such a wonderful speech. He also hoped the Ambassador, Mr. Amos Nadai will come and visit our university again in the near future.
Related Information: The current Israeli ambassador to China, Mr. Amos Nadai graduated from the Hebrew University School of Law, Israel, and he has had 35 years of experience in diplomatic work. In October 2006, the Israeli ambassador to China at the time Mr. Yehoyada Haim, had come and delivered a speech at our university.
