President Huang Jin meets the ambassador, Dr. Michael Schäfer
The ambassador gives a lecture to the teachers and students
Responding to the invitation from the China-EU School of Law, the German ambassador to China, Dr. Michael Schäfer returned on the first day of July as a guest speaker for the university’s ‘Ambassador Forum’. Before the speech, President Huang Jin met the ambassador, Dr. Michael Schäfer at Changping campus and gave a warm welcome to the ambassador on his second visiting. Ambassador Dr Schafer said after he was appointed as the German Ambassador to China in 2007 and our university was the first higher education institution in Beijing he visited, so he has a special feeling toward CUPL. President Huang Jin then gave the ambassador a brief introduction to the special features of our university system and the achievements in the area of international cooperation and exchange. The two parties then exchanged views on how to enhance progress towards the smoother running of the China-EU School of Law, and how to attract more outstanding and talented people to China-EU School, especially at the international level. Also attending the meeting, were the Chinese Co-dean of China-EU School of Law, Fang Liufang, the EU Co-dean of China-EU School of Law Ninon Colneric, and the director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Center Xu Lan.
The ambassador Dr. Michael Schäfer gave a lecture on ‘The Rule of Law in Modern Society’, speaking passionately on the importance of the rule of law toward building a harmonious, modern society, and how China and Germany could learn from each other. He emphasised cooperation and exchange in the area of the rule of law between the two countries and so on.
During a question and answer session, the ambassador gave brilliant answers to the questions which the students put forward. The speech was conducted by The Chinese Co-dean of China-EU School of Law, Fang Liufang.
