From September 21 to 22, 2017, the Fifth China-CEEC Education Policy Dialogue was held in Novi Sad, Serbia. At the opening ceremony, Ana Brnabic, Serbian Prime Minister, and Du Zhanyuan, Vice Minister of China's Ministry of Education delivered speeches. On September 22, the Fourth Meeting of China-CEEC Higher Education Institutes Consortium was held. Mladen Sarcevic, Serbian Minister of Education and Science and Technology Development, Du Zhanyuan, Vice Minister of China’s Ministry of Education, Sheng Jianxue, Secretary General of China Education Association for International Exchange, Milos Vucevic, Mayor of Novi Sad, Prof. Dusan Nikolic, President of the University of Novi Sad and other participants attended the meeting and gave remarks. Vice President of CUPL, Xu Yang was invited to attend the meeting. From September 20 to 29, the CUPL delegation led by Vice President Xu visited universities in Serbia, Hungary and the Czech Republic. This visit laid a sound foundation for expanding intercollegiate exchanges, deepening international cooperation and enlarging global influence of CUPL among the CEE countries.
The China-CEEC Higher Education Institutes Consortium was launched in Tianjin on September 22, 2014. CUPL is one of the first 14 domestic universities to join the consortium. The mission of the consortium is to establish a cooperation platform for universities in China and Central and Eastern Europe for resource integration and sharing as well as in-depth mutual educational exchanges and cooperation. The fourth meeting has three themes: Collaboration & Innovation to Cultivate Talents with Applied Skills for Belt and Road Construction; 16+1 Consortium Universities’ Joint Capacity Building in Curriculum Design, Science and Research, Language Teaching and Cultural Exchange; and, Mobility, Resources and Integration. 49 Chinese representatives from 29 universities in China and 88 foreign representatives from 16 countries in Central and Eastern Europe attended this meeting.

During the visit to Serbia, the CUPL delegation successively talked with Prof. Dusan Nikolic, Prof. Zivoslav Tešic, Vice President of University of Belgrade and other foreign representatives who attended the fourth meeting. Vice President Xu briefed the foreign partners on CUPL, including its history, characteristics and discipline advantages, as well as the current situation and point of interests of international cooperation and exchanges. Foreign universities expressed interests and expectations to develop partnerships with CUPL in academic cooperation, student and faculty exchanges and other aspects.

The delegation also visited the University of Szeged, the Ministry of Human Resources of Hungary, Charles University in Prague and Technical University of Liberec.
Liu Yaohui, Deputy Director of the University Office, and Liu Yuyuan, Program Officer of the Office of international Cooperation and Exchange, accompanied Vice President Xu during the visit.
