At the joint invitation of China Foundation for Human Rights Development and National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, President Huang Jin and the CUPL delegation attended the 7th China-U.S. Dialogue on Rule of Law and Human Rights. The theme of the dialogue was Judicial Protection of Human Rights. The Dialogue was held in New York on November 14 and 15, 2017 (EST).

Speaking at the opening session, President Huang Jin, Deputy Director of China Foundation for Human Rights Development, introduced the latest progresses and achievements in China's human rights and judicial development. He said that the recently concluded 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has laid out strategic guidelines to strengthen the legal basis of human rights protection. Prof. Gu Yongzhong from Procedural Law Research Institute, Prof. Xia Yinlan and Prof. Zhang Wei from Institute for Human Rights, CUPL also delivered speeches on comprehensively facilitating governance of the country according to law, deepening judicial reform,, revamping and improving the litigation system, and protecting the lawyers right to practice.

China-U.S. Dialogue on Rule of Law and Human Rights has been a major platform for the two countries' civil societies to discuss human right issues. Judges, lawyers and other legal experts from China and the United States from the Supreme People’s Court of P.R.C., Party School of the Central Committee of C.P.C., China University of Political Science and Law, China Foreign Affairs University, Yale University, New York University and George Washington University participated in this dialogue.
During the visit, President Huang Jin also met with officers from the Education Office of Consulate General of China in New York and Chinese translation service of the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The delegation also reached several agreements on exchanges and cooperation with U.S. universities and the UN Headquarters in New York.
