President Huang Jin Meets with the International City/County Management Association Delegation

On the morning of April 9, 2018, Prof. Huang Jin, President of CUPL, met with David Johnstone, President of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) at the Xueyuanlu Campus of CUPL and his delegation including Lee R. Feldman, the former President of ICMA, David Grossman, Director of Global Programme Management, Ellen Foreman, Director of Outreach, and Luo Lijun, Executive Director of the China Center. Former inspector of Department of Economic and Technological Experts of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, Wang Ying, accompanied the ICMA delegation. CUPL Council Vice-Chair & Vice-President Chang Baoguo also attended the meeting.

CUPL Council Vice-Chair & Vice-President Chang Baoguo also attended the meeting.

President Huang first extended a warm welcome to Johnstone and his delegation, and then reviewed the history of cooperation between CUPL and ICMA and stated that the cooperation between the two sides has attracted high attention and direct support from the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and related organizations of the U.S. Federal Government. The headquarters of ICMA and its China Center also have invested a lot of human resource and intellectual support. He hoped that both sides will continue to maintain the good momentum of cooperation and contribute to the development of cities in both countries.

Johnstone highly acknowledged the existing cooperation progresses between ICMA and CUPL, saying that CUPL was the sincerest partner of ICMA. He promised that ICMA would, as always, fully support and promote the extensive cooperation between the two sides in scientific research, training and personnel exchanges, and will continue to strengthen interaction and cooperation with local governments in China through the ICMA China Center. During the meeting, Director Grossman also gave a detailed introduction to ICMA's work plans and priorities in the coming years.

After the meeting, representatives of both parties renewed the cooperation framework agreement.

Xu Lan, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Yan Ting, Assistant to the Dean of the School of Political Science and Public Administration, and Tang Yan, Chief of the Programme Division of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office also attended the meeting.
