From September 11 to 14, 2018, CUPL Delegation headed by Prof. Gao Huanyue, Vice-Chair of CUPL Council, attended the 30th Annual EAIE(European Association for International Education) Conference and Exhibition in Geneva, Switzerland, as well as the China-Norway Higher Education Forum and visitedUniversity of Lausanne.
Founded in 1989, EAIE is the acknowledged European center for expertise, networking and resources in the internationalization of higher education. Initiated by a professional association with global vision, the Annual Conference has been one of the most influential events in Europe for international education exchanges. Almost 5700 professionals from 95 countries and regions across the globe gathered for this years’ meeting for networking and sharing of experience. Among all the participants, nearly 50 representatives from 23 Chinese Universities, such as Beijing Normal University, China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Communication University of China, Shandong University and Hohai University, attended the conference thanks to the support and coordination of the China Education Association for International Exchange.
During the trip, the CUPL delegation attended the EAIE opening session, exhibitions, etc., and listened to a lecture on higher education in Switzerland as well as speeches delivered by international peers. The delegation also met with some representatives from old and new partner universities, for instance, The University of Edinburgh, Grenoble Alpes University, University of Pretoria, Ankara University, Université Internationale de Rabat, Nanyang Technological University. During these meetings, they exchanged views on issues such as consolidating existing cooperation programs and exploring new partnerships.
As the only speaker from Chinese universities, Prof. Gao Huanyue delivered a keynote speech at the China-Norway Higher Education Forum. Her speech centered on the experience of CUPL in facilitating international communication and exchanges among students. During the free discussion session, the delegation held in-depth discussions with representatives from DIKU, BI, University of Bergen and University of Oslo.
As part of EAIE campus activities, the delegation also visited University of Lausanne and met with Vice-Rector for research and international relations and other EAIE staff. The two sides held a constructive talk on issues such asconsolidating current cooperation in evidence law and forensic science, as well as further cooperation in key disciplines, including short-term exchange programs for teachers and students, joint doctoral programs, administrative personnel exchange programs, and especially on the signing of a partner university agreements. In addition, the delegation also met with visiting scholars from CUPL in University of Lausanne and participated in DNA campus workshop.

This visit is of vital importance for promoting the establishment of world-class disciplines and advancing internationalization and partnerships, raising a profile among top universities in the world, especially in Europe, and taking a solid step towards the goal of an internationally recognized university specialized in law.
