In the afternoon of October 25, President Ma Huaide met with Dag Rune Olsen, Rector of University of Bergen and his delegation at the Xueyuanlu Campus.
President Ma Huaide extended a warm welcome to Dag Rune Olsen for his first visit to CUPL. Then he briefed them on CUPL, including its history, enrollment, leading disciplines and internationalization, and reviewed the cooperation achievements of the two universities in student exchange, exchange of high-level leadership and Confucius Institute. President Ma said CUPL attached great importance to exchanges and cooperation with the University of Bergen and hoped the two universities would rely on the Confucius institute as a platform for language and cultural exchange, deepen and expand academic cooperation in the fields of law and political science, and enhance the interaction and exchange between the two universities.
Olsen appreciated the warm reception and hospitality from CUPL. He briefed the delegation on CUPL, including its curriculum, educational goal and cooperation with China of University of Bergen. He said that the current cooperation between the two universities has played an important role in Sino-Norway cultural exchanges in University of Bergen and the local community, and he looked forward to deepening exchanges and cooperation with high-quality partners like CUPL.
At the meeting, the two parties had an exchange of views on student and teacher exchange programs, the construction of Confucius Institute and the expansion of cooperative disciplines. In the signing ceremony of the agreement after the meeting, President Ma Huaide and Rector Olsen signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Academic Cooperation and the Agreement on Exchange Between Teachers and Students respectively on behalf of the two universities.
Bjørnar Borvik, Director of Norwegian China Law Centre, Zhao Shouhui, Professor of Department of Foreign Languages, Chinese Language and Culture, Maria Lidal, Assistant of Norwegian China Law Centre, Prof. Xu Lan, Director of the Office of International Communication and Exchange, Yu Fei, Vice Dean of Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School, CUPL, and Ren Hongsheng, Vice Dean of School of Political Science and Public Administration also attended the meeting.
